What the flocking does

The layer of flocking holds a large supply of paint and releases it evenly, which produces two results a napped cover cannot match: an ultra smooth finish, and bubble free application. Bubbles are the defect that matters most here, because in a gloss or clear coat they cure into the surface and cannot be polished out afterwards. It is also the reason flocked covers are the standard for painting metal: on a smooth non porous surface every imperfection in the application shows, and a flocked face leaves the fewest.

Six inch, and how it differs from foam

Choose flocked over plain foam when the coating has body to it and the finished appearance is critical. Choose foam for the thinnest materials, where the priority is metering a runny liquid rather than laying a flawless film. Either way these are priced as a consumable at 100 per pack, which is how they are used in practice with solvent based products.
