Description
A paint pad combines the speed of a roller with the control of a brush. The flat face carries a full load of paint and lays it down in an even film across a wide path, without the spatter a roller throws or the lap marks a brush leaves behind.
Two details make the Classic worth choosing over a generic pad. The pad is trapezoidal rather than square, so it reaches into corners and along edges that a rectangular pad cannot square up to. Trim tabs let you run a clean line against trim, ceilings and glass without masking first. That is the step most people dread, and the reason a pad often finishes a room faster than a roller and brush together.
Coatings
The replaceable nylon pad is rated for latex, acrylic and oil paints, and for stains, waxes and sealers. Best on smooth and lightly textured surfaces. Deep texture and heavy stipple remain roller work.
Which size
Ten inches is the fast size. It is built for large uninterrupted areas, and it is also excellent on floors, where the low profile lets you work tight to baseboards and into corners without changing tools. Fewer passes across a big wall also means fewer laps to blend.
Refillable
When the face wears, fit Refill Pad #1181 rather than discarding the applicator. That is what makes this a working tool rather than a disposable one.
